A short list of basic Facts about Coquina Presbyterian Church. A little about our pastor, our Worship, our Vision and Mission, our Denomination, and our History.
Born in 1949, Pastor Neal was not “born again” until 1973. Since 1977 he has been married to Suzanne, and was ordained to Christian Ministry in 2001 on his 52nd birthday when he was also installed as the third pastor to serve Coquina Presbyterian Church.
Pastor Neal’s great passion is to help those whom God has called into His Kingdom to both grow in the grace and knowledge of their Savior Jesus Christ and also serve Him with a humble, obedient heart with a gratitude that makes visible the beautiful virtues of the invisible Kingdom of God. In this day of controversy and oppression of the Christian faith, Pastor Neal wants his brothers and sisters to be particularly filled with grace and a passion to lead their families, neighbors, and fellow citizens to Christ.
Christian education is a phrase that properly defines EVERYTHING a church undertakes in its ministry profile. Coquina’s leadership is committed to teaching Biblical content to individuals, families, every adult we admit to membership. We currently have a Christian Preschool and encourage our families to educate their children outside of the Public School System whenever possible, including homeschooling and the services of private schooling that is committed to a thoroughly Biblical view of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Christian Religion per se.
Sunday Worship at Coquina (Sunday Worship at 10:30 A.M.)
Believing firmly in the Scriptural mandate to worship God in Spirit and Truth (John 4:23-24; Psalms 145:18), we worship with a blend of reverent joyful love of God in music, singing, prayer, confession, thanksgiving, and the proclamation of God’s Word. Our "order of worship" leads the congregation to consider that it is gathered immediately before God, and each element of our worship is "in his presence," and that we have come there together for HIS Sovereign pleasure. We want to conclude each service having received the blessing of HIS comfort, HIS life-changing instruction, and HIS empowering encouragement to our service to HIM in all that we are and do in life.
We Are Knowing God as He has revealed Himself in the Bible, in the Creation, and pre-eminently in the person and teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. (1Thessalonians 2:13, Psalm 19, Matthew 1:22-23, John 3:14-16)
We Are Growing in the love, knowledge and understanding of God. (Jeremiah 9:24, 2Peter 3:18, Ephesians 1:17; Colossians 1:9-12, 2Thessalonians 1:3).
We are showing the knowledge of God in dynamic and joyful worship, loving congregational and household relationships and ministry, and disciple-making evangelism. (Matthew 5:16, 2Corinthians 2:14, 5:20).
Yes. The Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) was founded in 1973 when, through a nationwide laymen-led grass-roots effort, churches broke away from the Presbyterian Church in the United States (PCUS) when the latter fell into various heresies and apostacies. The forming of the PCA was to assert and freely teach Biblical standards and practice reflected in the Westminster Confession of Faith and its Larger and Shorter Catechisms, and to continue the theology, worship, evangelism and polity of historic Calvinist and Presbyterian Christianity. The Westminster Confession of Faith’s influence in a Christian’s life is not superior to Holy Scripture but rather simply an instructive and systemized directory of what the Scripture teaches. You can read or even download the Westminster Confession and its Catechisms at the PCA Website. You can also learn more about the History of the PCA at their website.
The PCA is one of the fastest growing denominations in the United States, and now numbers over 353,960 members worldwide in 1,831 churches and missions which contribute over $766 million to the work of worship, Christian Education, mercy ministries, as well as local and worldwide evangelism. In 2014, 9,425 people of varied race and socio-economic backgrounds joined the PCA on profession of their Faith in Jesus Christ. The PCA has 596 full-time missionaries serving in 86 countries all over the world, and 4,944 missionaries, mostly regular members of our churches, who served in two-week short-term missions-team ministries. The PCA is a "conservative" organization based upon our fervent belief that the Bible is the inerrant and infallible Word of God, and therefore sufficient for all life and godliness! You can see more about the PCA at: About the PCA.
Coquina Presbyterian Church was founded in 1985 as a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America. In 1988 the church built the two existing buildings—the Sanctuary/Offices and the Christian Education Building that also contains the congregation’s Little Blessings Preschool. We also converted the old Horse Barn in the rear of the property into a Fellowship Facility. Coquina Presbyterian also planted both Spruce Creek PCA in Port Orange and Grace PCA in Palm Coast.
